Designs of My Life

“I will greet this day with love in my heart. For this is the greatest secret of success in all ventures. Muscles can split a shield and even destroy life itself but only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of man. And until I master this act I will remain no more than a peddler in the marketplace. I will make love my greatest weapon and none on whom I call can defend upon its force…my love will melt all hearts liken to the sun whose rays soften the coldest day.”

-Og Mandino, The Greatest Salesman in the World

I received this quote on a daily email that I get, and I immediately recognized it. This book is one of my favorites in the genre of self-improvement. It’s a very quick and easy read…I finished it in like, 3 hours or so. (Now the following summary may not be exactly right in all of the details, but it’s the basic idea.) It is about a new salesman who seeks advice from an accomplished salesman. He is given 10 “rules,” each accompanied by a passage that is to be read every day for a certain number of days. The quote above starts off one of these daily readings. The end has an interesting little twist that is pretty neat. So you should read it. =)
