So I’m back after a short hiatus from blogging. And I’m very sorry I left you, but it was with good reason. Here’s what has been going on:
Last week, we had a MASSIVE reset at work. 2 aisles. 38 bays. Old stuff in. New stuff out. Lots of displays. Product moving completely from one aisle to another. MASSIVE. Because of the magnitude of the project, we had to work on it when the store was closed, so that we could work without distractions…aka customers. So my shift last week was from 9pm to 6am. Not. Fun. I would go to work, come home, shower, sleep, wake up, feel terrible, take a nap, get up, still feel terrible, then go back to work. For 4 nights. Completely switching up your sleep schedule for a whole week can really mess with you. Just so you know. Thankfully, everybody worked really hard and got it done in 4 nights instead of 5 like we had planned. So I was done with that Thursday morning. Slept most of the day. Couldn’t sleep that night. Slept most of Friday…It took until Sunday to get back onto a somewhat normal sleep schedule.
Monday morning, I started training for my new position in cabinets. In Dyersburg, which is an hour and a half away from Henderson. So instead of making me drive back and forth every day, they put me up in a hotel. All my meals are paid for all week. Pretty cool. Except that Micah and Zeus are in Henderson all week.
Today was day #2 of training. Yesterday I learned some of the basics about cabinets and then they guy training me walked me through designing a kitchen with the software. Very cool. Today, the store was super busy. So he didn’t get much time to sit and go through things with me. I basically just observed him doing what he does on a normal day. And I played around with the software on my own a little bit.
Tomorrow, I’ve got to be in Nashville at 9. That’s 3 hours from where I am. So guess who is getting up at 4.30 tomorrow. Boo. It’s a training for Diamond cabinets, which is one of the brands that we carry. It’ll be interesting and I know I’ll learn a lot.
Then it’s back to Dyersburg for Thursday and Friday. And I should start out on my own next week. Quite intimidating. I think I’m catching on pretty quick, but there is so much to learn. I’m going to be learning for a long time.
So that’s what I’ve been up to for the last couple of weeks.
And now I’m sitting alone in my huge king size bed. Watching The Office. And talking to you. Even though I should be sleeping since I have to be up in like, 6 hours.
