Gossip is a…..good thing??

I was sitting in the break room today at work. Since I’m in a different store this week for training, I don’t know anyone else who may also be sitting around talking in the break room. I’m not one to just sit and stare at the wall on my break. I usually occupy myself by reading. Ask anyone at my store. That’s just what I do. I read and eat Cheerios (no milk) for breakfast. =)

So anyways. Since I had no one to talk to and no book to read (I don’t want to look like a TOTAL nerd in front of all these strangers. lol), I grabbed a magazine from the box full of magazines on the table. The first one I got to that wasn’t Golf Digest or about muscle cars was Redbook. Should’ve been clue numero uno, right?

So i was just flipping through, more for something to keep my hands busy than to actually read, and I came across an article. It wasn’t even really an article. It was just a little blurb down in one corner of the page. Here was the gist of the blurb:

Gossip is good because it strengthens the relationship between the two people gossiping. Apparently 4 out of 5 conversations are about people that aren’t present. And these conversations help people bond with each other.

????????????????

So I guess now we’re just looking for any reason possible to validate the terrible things we are going to do anyways. But then again, is that strategy really a recent development?
